The Zellidja Lead
Smelter Company (SFPZ), located near the Mediterranean port of Nador, is
the unique lead smelter of Morocco.
Provided with
state-of-the art facilities following an investment of 50 million euro,
over 280 employees and a production capacity of 160 000 tons per annum
of lead concentrate, our primary lead smelter is the most important of
the Mediterranean region.
In addition to the
production of pure lead (99,99%) which is referenced at the London Metal
Exchange as « PZ-MAROC », SFPZ produces fine silver, copper matte,
antimonial lead Oxide and Triple concentrate Alloys.
Most of the production
is exported to overseas markets: Europe, America, Middle East and North
Africa.
In 2008, in line with
its sustainable development strategy, based on quality, environment and
economic development of the Eastern region of Morocco, SFPZ has been
certified ISO 9001 version 2000.
In 2009, in a crisis
context characterized by the plunging prices of commodities, particulary
silver and copper matte, SFPZ has implemented an action plan to face the
exchange rate risks and to hedge commodity price fluctuations.
SFPZ is a subsidiary of
SOMED, one of the leading national groups, a joint Moroccan and Emirates
fund. This group is an active player in several activities, including
real estate, tourism, agri-business, public facilities, trade and
metallurgy.
